Tropenbos International is active in seven countries, making it difficult to communicate with a single voice. The organisation opted for communications training for all of the organisation’s programme directors and communications staff to resolve the problem.
Trainers and coaches
Marianne Heselmans and Han van de Wiel acted as trainers and coaches. The primary emphasis lay in dealing with practical situations. How do you know if something is newsworthy? And how do you subsequently write a good press release or article about it? How should one approach cultural differences and practices? What opportunities does photography offer in telling the story? The course featured guest lectures by Erik Toussaint, about corporate communication at Wageningen University and Research Centre, and Bas Jongerius, about telling stories through photographs. The seventeen participants rated the course with an average 8.3.
